| So I haven't been at my place much recently :-\ but I think it has helped me tell that mary jane is lookign different since I don't see her every day. She hasn't eating in like 3 monthes but looks kinda like she has just downed a large rat. She also looks , lighter colored. So I am hoping she is good and preggers. | |

| Yep, if she's glowing and huge, she's either preggers or about to be preggers. Congrats! Got a girl here that's doing the same, and I can't wait until she lays eggs! I'm anxious to see how many she's going to give me this season! | |

| Well, she's definitely got "the glow" and looks like she's probably still building (I don't see the "tail suck" much yet). But as large as her paunch is, I'd definitely say she's very close! Keep an eye on her, and take pics if she looks like she's gotten bigger! I love ovy pics! | |

| Looks like it to me! Is she still feeding? If not, I'd say she's definitely there. If she has been feeding, she may not now. If she sheds in about 2 weeks, you'll know for sure. My girl is going into shed now, so I'm getting antsy. LOL Know exactly how you're feeling right about now. Congrats, and definitely keep us posted! | |

| A wrd to the wise when maternally incubating: have an incubator on hand just in case. That way if something goes wrong, you've got a backup, and you don't want to lose any pastel babies! Best of luck! | |

| I'll have mine up and running if you need it, Devin. I believe Dewshine was ovulating a few days ago and it looks like Ailynn is ovulating tonight. Hopefully we'll all have eggs on the ground around the same time and can all pace the floor counting down days together. | |

| MJ has moved her water dish and is sitting on the heated part of the tub with no mulch in between her and plastic. | |

| After they've ovulated, they seek out warmth to finish "cooking". Soon she should start moving the eggs further down her body. Whenever you check in on her, look at how swollen her back end is. When the bulge has moved down to her vent, that's a good indicator that she'll be laying within a few days. | |

| I never do. With the cypress, the humidity stays pretty high as it is and when I've had them on aspen, I've avoided misting because I wanted to avoid mold. I guess if I kept them on newspaper I'd mist them periodically..?
When I have a breeding pair in one of the tanks and they weren't "doing" anything misting sometimes helped them take notice of each other and spark interests. I did mist the baby JCPs every other day for the first few weeks just to make sure nobody was dehydrated in the beginning but I think they probably would have been fine without.

| Yeah, in my stackable cages, I typically don't mist either, unless I have a snake going into shed. However, if you're using newspaper, you might wanna mist for the mommy snake and eggs. Walmart has a great digital thermometer/humidity gauge that is the most accurate I've found for around $7.00. It's a Springfield, takes an AAA battery. I even use them in my incubators for monitoring temps and humidity. You can also kinda make a nest box for the female (even in tubs) by putting some spaghnum (sp?) moss in one area of the cage for her, which will help hold the humidity as well. Just take care when you are misting not to hit the eggs once she lays them. | |

| I think I have teh exact same thermometer\humidity gauges as you. I use cocoa husk which hold the humidity really high. I don't really think I need sphagnum(this is how it is spelled ;-) ) moss. She has moved everything out of the way of the heat pad under her tub. It is just her, plastic then heat tape. Should I increase the temp a degree or two or is this enough? On top of the mulch it is 85 but she is directly on the plastic and heat tape. | |

| Can you get a temp reading under the cocoa husk above the heat tape? I would imagine it won't hurt to bump the temps up a little bit so long as it's not drastically warmer under the substrate. Sorry, I am late to responding to your last post. lol Any updates on MJ? By my count, you should have about two weeks or so left until eggs are due to be laid? | |

That can happen. I have my probe taped directly to the heat tape and the temp I have programmed in the thermostat is not the same as the temp in the snake tubs. Just adjust the thermostat as needed to get the desired temp in tub.
