| Our Leo Aptor female, Leia, has been HUGE this whole week, so we've been wondering if she'd lay soon. Well, she had been making a lot of racket in the rack, so I checked on her to see what she was doing, and low and behold, she had laid her first clutch of the season! Our first eggs ever! We were so excited! I giggled and shouted like a kid on Christmas morning.. and this is only gonna fuel our new found addiction.. er, hobby! So, I want to show off our eggs! We had a lay box in with her, but she chose her dry-at-the-time humid hide :/, so the eggs were stuck in there a little, and together: Getting ready to go into the incubator: Snug as a bug, and now all we have to do is wait and see if these hatch or not, they are definitely fertile: | |

| Lol, I don't know the mechanics of it all, but you plug it in, and have this almost allenwrench looking piece to adjust the temp. It regulates itself, based on what you want it set at. It only came with a mercury thermometer, so we took Eric's advice and got a digital one. That makes a big difference! It took us a little while to get it adjusted right where we wanted it, but I know Eric has used his with great success. the top part lifts off really easily so you can put things in and take them out easily.
We'll see how well it works for us! | |

| Congrats on the eggs and good luck! Hovabators do look like ufos, don't they? LOL A lot of people say that they're near worthless because of the wafer thermostat on the thing but I disagree. There are other/better incubators on the market but the hovabators are simple and cheap and can be just as successful. You can switch out the wafer thermostat for a better quality one to make the hovabator more reliable, but it's all according to what's in your budget. Overall, I think it's a great little incubator as long as you have the patience to get the wafer set and are using a more reliable thermometer to read the actual temperature in there. | |

| I hope we have success with it, because it was a very affordable incubator. I think the digital thermometer we have on it now was $12 from Wal-Mart.. not too bad! | |

| its a great feeling to have eggs!! and i wouldnt worry with the incubator for leo eggs. I have used a hovabator since i started and have had a 100% hatch rate with fertile eggs and zero deformities.
GOOD LUCK!!! | |
