Kyriel's Clutch (C'mon Pieds!)

It's been just 12 days since her post-ovy shed but I figured I'd go ahead and start a thread just for her.

I'm only expecting 4 eggs from her. Let's hope all four turn out to be pieds!

Well, they're here. Now I can start the countdown. Reeeeeally hoping there are some female pieds in this clutch!

At 20 days.

Candled again Day 43.











^ This egg has a small window. I'll call this one Egg A. I'm starting to see pattern develop in here now. Sort of disheartening but that's how it goes and as long as it's healthy I'll be happy - morph or not.







^ Still hard to make anything out in Egg B.





^ Considering it's so shadowy, I'm inclined to say Egg C is unlikely to be a pied but I guess time will tell.







^ It's hard not to get one's hopes up when comparing a really dark shadow to an otherwise pink outline but, again, time will tell...



Just have a little longer to wait.

Yay! eggs are fun even without getting all you want lol.

I think we're up to day 49 now...

Nope, nothing yet. I've been checking two or three times a day now. lol

Still nothing new to report, so I'm going to sit around here and speculate on photos.. lol

Finally!! Day 69. So far I've only seen one head peeking out.

And then a little while later...




I'm thrilled!! I just hope there is more than just the one!

Yay! At least we got one pied!

Was that the one you were really guessing might be a pied, or was that another egg?

YEAY!

So far just the one egg has pipped. I'm fairly certain baby #1 here is a little boy.


Also, just a little FYI on using a deep sphagnum bed (2"+) with brooding moms... Moms flip out when something unseen is burrowing around under the bedding near their nest. LOL

The rest of the bunch have decided to take a peek at the outside world. Looks like 3 piebalds and one het. I'm anxious to see them all out! I'll get more pics as soon as they are!

I've spoken with Pam and we've agreed that she should get the female pied in this clutch. We both really wanted a girl but since Pam got no holdback from our other joint project I thought this would be fair. I've been trying to decide between the two boys. I'm leaning towards keeping male #2 because his pattern is awesome and the coloration is just a bit lighter than his sibling.

Still waiting on the last two to shed but here are pics of pied male #1 and the female pied.

Now that the other two babies have shed, I got some shots of the second pied male and a couple more of his brother.

So pam is getting the female pied and you are keeping a male sandy, how much are you selling your other male for, or are you gonna keep two :-P

I'm keeping pied male #2. His brothers will be up for sale as soon as they've had a few meals. I believe I already have a buyer for the het but in case it falls through, he'll be $50. His pied brother will be $800.
