Not all of them do. I remember Dewshine doing this last year, though, so now I feel like things are finally moving in the right direction with at least one of my girls.
Edit: Make that two of my girls now that Ailynn is going into shed.

I was checking on snakes this evening and feeding off whatever rats and mice I still had sitting around and figured I'd check on Kyriel and Gabriel, my het pied pair. I am 99% certain I felt 4 marble-sized follicles in Kyriel! It's not as many as I'd like, but beggars can't be choosers. I really hope she goes on to ovulate and give me a healthy clutch! She looks like she's going into a shed cycle so I didn't want to bother her too much. I'm hoping for at least one pied from her - preferably female, but either would be lovely!

Hey, one in 4 should give you a pied (scientifically speaking, anyway). Best of luck, and I've got my fingers crossed for ya!

Each egg has a 1 in 4 chance of being pied. I'm hoping for twins pieds in every egg. LOL
Also, just thought I'd add this because I thought it was bizarre. Last year, Dewshine stopped eating in November and didn't eat again until after her eggs hatched in July. This year, it's more that she just has very long periods between meals rather than stopping altogether. I've been neglecting to keep up with my iHerp records and the last large meal I recorded for her was in January there. I'm fairly certain she was eating normally up until the end of February. Just last night when I was feeding off some leftover mice (before they started eating one another..eww..) I offered her one of the smaller ones just because when I looked in on her she looked hungry or looked like she wanted to bite my face.. one or the other. Anyway, she snatched it up before it even dropped to the tub floor. It's odd because I can see the bulges when I pick her up. I'm absolutely certain that she ovulated earlier this month. There is no mistake, she's got eggs in there but everything I've ever read on snake breeding has said that they will refuse to eat after they ovulate. I think someone forgot to give her the memo.

LOL Yeah, I've never had a female that would eat after ov, so she definitely didn't get the message. But hey, not all of them are by the book.

I checked on all the girls last night and I believe I can expect 5 or 6 eggs from Dewshine and 5 from Ailynn. Just have to keep waiting for them to lay....
Kyriel, the 100% het pied ball, just shed and is still chowing down on rats. I really hope her follicles keep developing and she ovulates for me. That would be awesome. I haven't seen Gabriel locking with her recently but that doesn't mean it isn't happening.
Nonahme, the butter motley corn, loves her lay box but I never see her. She's burrowed deep into the vermiculite and sphagnum moss mixture in the box. Judging from her appearance, I'm going to guess that she may lay in the next week or so..? Maybe?

After palpating Nonahme, I believe she's holding a dozen eggs. She shed either last night or today so I expect eggs from her in about a week or two..maybe three.

It almost looks that way--my female ball looks like she's going into another shed!!!! I have heard people mention them doing that before, but have never actually had it happen myself. But maybe this time she is going to do a post-ov shed and then a pre-lay shed?! But maybe that's good news--maybe it means she's holding so many eggs that her skin can't hold them all! Hey, a girl can dream, can't she? LOL

Yep, I've been told they tend to lay right after they have their second shed if they have one. I got her, lay box, and all out today to confirm the shed, and sure enough, she is. Her eyes are milky, and she's laying belly-up! This one was taken a few days ago:
These two were taken today:
And this one she's not as belly-up since I disturbed her. LOL

My girl shed today, vacated her lay box, and is now laying under her cool-side hide . . . ? What is up with her? LOL She still looks gavid, as her behind is huge and she's not taken any meals . . . I wish she would lay them already! But perhaps this moving around is her "restlessness" that typically occurs before laying, so hopefully it won't be long now!

After 41 days past shed, my female finally laid her clutch! 7 eggs, all candled fertile. Her last clutch (2 years ago) was 9 eggs, so this was a bit of a letdown, but hey, I'm more than happy with 7 healthy ones. This is my first morph clutch, so I can't wait! Spider X Normal. The 50-60 day countdown begins . . .

I didn't think Freckles, my largest female, was going to "do" anything for me but I just walked into the back room and she's laying inverted in the laybox/humid hide so now I'm not so sure. She has been sharing an enclosure with Henna and Cybin and I never saw her lock but I guess time will tell. I bought her as a normal, but the guy I bought her from got her as a "het burgundy red phase 1" whatever that means. If she goes on to produce anything, I may hold back a male and breed it back to her just to see if anything happens.

Well, I'll have three ball python clutches for sure. ^_^
I don't think Henna will go on to produce anything this year. She stopped feeding early on and at her current weight I don't think anything will come of her past recreational activities with Cybin. Maybe she'll retain sperm, though, and go on to produce a clutch after she's gained some grams later in the year though.

Last year Dewshine's clutch was maternally incubated and started hatching on Day 53. I read a few other maternal incubation threads on other forums and that seems to be the norm so I'm guesstimating that Dewshine's clutch will start hatching on July 9th and Ailynn's on July 12th.

This is Freckles. She's getting so chunky that she lays partially inverted lately. I'm fairly certain that she isn't gravid because I can't feel anything when I palpate her, but I figured I'd throw a pic of her in here just in case something does happen.

Got two eggies beginning to hatch! Yay! So far, one normal and one spider. Here's a few "teaser" pics LOL :
Sorry, but that's all I've got so far. I'll post more once I have something else to take pics of. It's hard to tell for sure in the last pic above from that picture, but it is indeed a spider. He/she had their head sticking out, but when I took the top off the incubator for pic-taking, it startled it and it hid again.
Btw, ignore the "N" and the "S" on 4 of the eggs. I was candling them a week or so ago, trying to see what was inside, and I was marking them to see if I was right. I'm two for two on my candling guesses so far though! One I thought was a normal was indeed a normal, and same goes for the one spider so far.

Right now I am thinking 4 or 5. My official count is now up to 3 spiders, 2 normals. There's still 2 eggs left to pip, and one I am pretty sure from candling that it is a spider. The other egg, I don't have the first clue, as I can't see a thing in it when candling. It will probably be the last egg to pip, just to make me wait. LOL
